New York And December Are Made For Each Other. This Is Why

I don’t know if you have ever visited New York but this place has a special place in my heart. Even the hustle and bustle of the city is a melodious ring to my ears. While New York is amazing during any month of the year, December has got to be my favorite. The city is lit in all its glory and there is never, absolutely never a dull moment. Let me tell why I say this.

1) Winter and Snow

Winter and Snow

The climate in December in NY is amazing and romantic. It’s the right amount of cold and you get to wear all the cozy winter clothes. The temperature is anywhere between 1 degree Celsius during the nights to 10 degree Celsius during the day. And the snow makes everything simply beautiful. You will wake up to a city covered in white on some mornings and it’s like a fairy tale. If the temperatures drop even further, the hotel rates drop too and you can save some money.

2) Shows and Events

Shows and Events

New York has the best shows and events for the holiday season.
You can enjoy the lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree. This tree is lit with almost 45000 LED lights, a sight to behold.
The Bryant Winter Village has a 17000 foot ice skating rink which is free.
See the Rockettes perform at the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, which is a Christmas treat.
The Dyker Heights Christmas Lights which is the cutest little neighborhood in Brooklyn that decorate their houses for Christmas. And it’s not just lights and decorations. It’s over the top decorations and lights. The whole area is a small Christmas town.

3) Holidays And Holiday Windows

Holidays And Holiday Windows

December is the holiday season of the city. You have Christmas and Hanukkah and windows that display Christmas and Hanukkah. The New Yorker's take their Holidays very seriously. So you will see the windows of shops are decked up to match the holidays - Christmas, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, New Years and much more. Macy’s and Barney's have some of the best displays.

4) Food, Food and Food

Christmas Food

Just like the Holiday Windows, there is Holiday Food. Total Love. From the amazing Christmas sweets to the traditional Thanksgiving turkey - everything is lip smacking good. There are some mouthwatering events and places for food that you every foodie should definitely make a point to visit.
Attend the Brooklyn Cookie Takedown where amateurs  bakers have a faceoff with their cookie making skills and you lots and lots of cookies and eggnog for tasting.
Beer lovers have to attend the Battle of the Belgians where you get unlimited samples of Belgian Beers to taste. Sweet Beer Heaven.

5) New Years

New Year’s Eve Ball Drop

New Year's in New York is one of a kind. The events are parties are all kinds of glam and fun. There is something to do for every mood. The biggest New Year’s celebration happens in Time Square - The New Year’s Eve Ball Drop. The ball drops at 11.59 and there are one million people who are standing there to witness it and enjoy the one ton of confetti that flurries down. The first ball drop happened in 1907 and this has been a tradition ever since.

This is my favorite list of events in New York for the New Years. Which one would you go to? Let us know in the comments below.
